How to make an iced latte
An iced latte is espresso poured over ice and cold milk. No steaming needed, so it is quick, and it is perfect on a hot Perth day.
The quick recipe
For a tall glass (about 350ml):
- Ice: a good handful
- Milk: about 190ml of cold milk, straight from the fridge
- Espresso: a double shot, 18g in and 36g out, poured over the top
- Shot time: 25 to 30 seconds
The iced latte calculator works out the milk for your strength.
Step by step
- Fill the glass with ice.
- Pour in the cold milk.
- Pull a double shot. Pull it into a small jug or shot glass. See how to pull an espresso shot.
- Pour the shot over the top. It will swirl through the milk. Stir before you drink.
How strong should it be?
| Strength | Recipe |
|---|---|
| Mild | Single shot, 199ml full cream |
| Balanced | Double shot, 188ml full cream |
| Strong | Triple shot, 178ml full cream |
Ice melts and waters it down, so many people like it a step stronger.
Good to know
- No espresso machine? Use cold brew concentrate instead of the shot.
- Sweeten it first. Sugar does not dissolve in cold milk, so stir syrup into the warm shot before pouring.
